Delia Ann Derbyshire was born on May 5, 1937 in Coventry, England. After the notorious Coventry Raids of World War II, Derbyshire and her family moved to Lancashire, where she spent most of her childhood. The composer and musician Delia Derbyshire (1937–2001) joined the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in 1962 and by the end of the decade had made a major contribution to the British public’s awareness and understanding of electronic music. Delia Derbyshire: The Myths And The Legendary Tapes is an unconventional portrait of an unconventional British electronic music pioneer.
